State Auditor Julie Blaha to Attend Final Minnesota State Fair in Office
FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – On Thursday, Aug. 27, State Auditor Julie Blaha will greet fairgoers at the Main Gate of the Minnesota State Fair and visit with constituents and fair activities afterward.
“The State Fair has always been one of my favorite Minnesota traditions, and I’ve loved sharing it with Minnesotans as state auditor,” said State Auditor Julie Blaha. “From crop art and butter carving to the new foods and the llama costume contest, this truly is the Great Minnesota Get-Together.”
Auditor Blaha will spend the morning greeting fairgoers, unveiling new crop art pieces and visiting her favorite booths.
When:
Thursday, Aug. 27
Where:
She will be available for live interviews at the main gate or media booths from 6:20 a.m. to 12:00pm.
Additional Availability:
Auditor Blaha plans to attend the State Fair on multiple days and will be available for interviews throughout the fair upon request.
Interview Topics for Discussion:
- Crop Art Reveal: Auditor Blaha has submitted a crop art entry every year since 2017 and has earned nine ribbons. This year’s crop art piece is a nod to her last year as state auditor and how she plans to pass the beans to her successor. View past entries and media here.
- Butter Carving: Auditor Blaha competes each year in the Agrilympics butter carving contest. For the last two years, she’s helped her team, the Minnesota Farmer’s Union, take home gold overall. This year, she’s back with a secret plan for her next sculpture.
- Fair Food Audit: Building on past year’s series, Blaha can work with reporters to “audit” a new fair food — walking them through each step of the process in a fun, fair-themed way.
- The Final Fair: Auditor Blaha can reflect on eight years as State Auditor, what she’s most proud of, what she’s learned, and what she hopes Minnesotans remember about her time in office.
